Infiniti to Release Redesigned Vehicles This Summer

October 3, 2010 by

The Nissan Motor Corporation is in the process of revitalizing its lineup as well as its luxury division Infiniti. This summer, Infiniti will be releasing the new G35 which, according to the auto industry experts, is gaining ground on its established competitors. The most notable competition for the G35 is the BMW 3 Series and the G35 is reportedly catching up with the German car.

For this summer, the shape of the G35 does not move away from the previous version of the entry-level sports sedan. While it looks similar to the previous G35, the new model is redesigned to have better interior features. According to its manufacturer, one of the most notable features that the new G35 has over its predecessor is the use of aluminum as accent pieces inside the car.

The car’s powerplant is also improved for the 2007 model year. The new G35 is now equipped with a 3.5-liter V6 engine which is rated to produce as much as 306 horsepower. That amount of power generated by the engine can propel the Infiniti G35 to 60 miles per hour from a standstill in just 5.6 seconds. This acceleration is faster than the BMW 330i, the Mercedes-Benz C350 and the Audi A4 3.2. While it as superior acceleration, the Infiniti G35 is rated to travel 19 miles on a single gallon of gasoline in city driving. For highway cruising, the G35 can run for 26 miles on a gallon of fuel. This is possible even without the use of performance enhancing components such as the Infiniti cold air intake system.

For the inside of the G35, Infiniti took the effort to use better materials. The use of higher quality materials is complemented by a better interior layout and color scheme. For the dashboard, the new G35 is given gauges illuminated by white/purple lights.

Another vehicle that will come to Infiniti dealerships across the United States this summer is the M Series, most notably the Infiniti M35X. The midsize luxury car is equipped with an improved engine for the 2007 model year. The top-of-the-line M35X is equipped with a 3.5-liter V6 engine which can produce as much as 275 horsepower. According to experts, the new engine is considered as one of the finest engines available today.

The M35X has a gas mileage rating of 17 miles per gallon for city driving. On highways, the engine can consume a gallon of gasoline after covering 24 miles. According to Infiniti, the new M35X will have a starting price of $44,550 when it hits showrooms in the U.S.

According to the maker of the M35X, it will come equipped with a long list of feature which includes a five-speed automatic transmission with manual mode which is expected to be the choice of performance enthusiasts. The midsize luxury car will also be available with anal-wheel drive configuration for better traction on different road conditions.

Safety features includes an anti-lock braking system complemented by an Electronic Brake Force Distribution system. It also has side impact airbags, rear seat head restraints and the standard front airbags to protect the occupants of the car in the unfortunate event of a crash.

With the release of these vehicles and the amount of buzz it has generated in the auto industry, Infiniti is being dubbed as a car maker on the rise. This is surely good news for Nissan.

The Hot Topic of this Century has to be Green Energy

October 2, 2010 by

One of the most talked about topics of this Century has to be where to find different forms of Energy.

Green Energy – also called Sustainable Energy, Environmentally Friendly Energy,Non-Polluting Energy etc., refers to energy which is naturally renewable and less harmful to the planet.

Energy sources more familiar to us such as Coal(used as early as the 17th Century), Oil(used as far back as the 13th Century) and Gas (reported to have been used by the Chinese as far back as 500BC for boiling sea water to remove the salt) must be conserved as it is thought that if we go on using them at the current rate they will run out in 100 years.

Green Energy substances that are the focus of much attention are Geothermal (under the Earth), Bio Mass (Plants), Hydro (Water), Wind (Wind) and Solar (Sun). These are of interest because they are all naturally renewable and therefore the planet will not be stripped of these assets no matter how much we use.

So if we have all these sources in abundance why aren’t we using them now?

The answer is because although they are in essence ‘Free’, ie the Sun shines free of charge, the Wind blows free of charge, to harness their power and turn it into something useable requires infrastructure and it is this which is costly.

Let’s look at a couple of the renewable – Green Energy – sources.

Bio Mass as an alternative fuel source is produced from Plants which have to be grown from seed (in huge quantities) harvested, transported to a facility to turn them into energy, creation of the facility itself and the operating process.

Wind Power as an alternative form of electricity is created via huge tower system, with each system having rotor blades attached to a long neck. Inside the neck is a shaft which turns as the wind blows the rotor blades. The shaft is connected to a generator and this generates electricity. The tall tower turbines require siting and many of the chosen ‘Wind Farm’ sites are out at Sea and so the cost of constructing these is obviously expensive.

So it is clear that whilst there are alternatives to the ever depleting fossil fuels on which we have come so dependent upon, it is going to take a considerable amount of work to be able to bring the alternatives ‘to market’ in ways that are both cost effective and ‘planet saving’.
