For some years now, the word has been spreading about the multitude of benefits of green tea, but there’s quite a lot that many people don’t realize about this healthy tea. Green tea is a gift from Asia where it has been eaten and drunk for thousands of years. Yes, it can be made into a delicious drink, but the health properties are extraordinary. So what we’ll be doing today is talking about just a few of the many benefits of green tea.

Believe it or not, but green tea has stimulant properties that are not as harsh as found in coffee and the popular high energy quick fixes being sold, today. If you drink green tea in the morning, or before a workout, you can feel more awake and energetic without the nervousness or jitters many people get from coffee. This substance is known to increase the metabolism, and it is very good with those who want to lose weight. Coffee has roughly twice as much caffeine as green tea. Some of the energy drinks on the market are so high in caffeine that it causes unpleasant side effects for some people. So you can take advantage of the stimulating properties of green tea without all the other concerns about high caffeine intake. Green tea is also known for its ability to support your brain with good nutrition and protection. Age related memory loss and conditions are very real for millions, and green tea looks like it may be able to provide some help with memory conditions. The active ingredients in this area are the many types of antioxidants found in green tea. Green tea would also greatly benefit younger people in school because it will help provide antioxidant support which everyone needs.

One of the best aspects of green tea is that it’s a completely natural way to get important nutrients, and it can be consumed in many different forms. In Asian countries, the tea is consumed as a hot beverage, of course, and you can do the same. When it’s hot outside, just make iced green tea instead of hot green tea – problem solved! And if you don’t like tea for some reason, or find it too much trouble to make, you can find many supplements that supply you with a healthy dosage. If the caffeine is an issue, then you can get decaf green tea, but you’ll be losing the natural stimulant properties for weight loss. You can always just drink the decaffeinated from in the evening so you won’t be too wired to sleep. Those are just ideas, and you are the only one who knows the best thing to do for you.

Demand for eco-friendly items is still on the rise

Comparison-shopping for just the right product now includes a demand for the lowest carbon footprint.

When shoppers are given choices, for example, many say that eco-friendly products are a meaningful way to make an individual contribution to the good health of the planet.

“If that many people come together and act on their convictions to reduce chemicals and contaminants from reaching landfill, it’s going to make such a difference to protecting our land, air, and waterways,” says Steve Matyas, president of office supplies retailer, Staples Canada.

Recycling is a continuous service at Staples where handy, in-store bins for used ink and toner cartridges, rechargeable batteries and unwanted cell phones, make it easy to discard these toxic items.

“And in keeping with this commitment, our stores have also stocked the shelves with at least 2,000 eco-friendly products,” Matyas continued. “As a low-cost retailer, it’s important for us to weigh value alongside our environmental impact. The answer was to give Canadian shoppers a lot of choice in sustainable products and supplies.”

• Eco-friendly notebooks by Staples, made from 80 percent bagasse, a sugarcane waste by product. The bagasse line also uses eco-conscious vegetable and water-based inks for printing.

• Exercise books by Hilroy are made from 30 percent post-consumer waste and environmentally friendly ink.

“Perhaps of equal importance, our company goal is to eliminate polyvinyl chloride (PVC) from all brand packaging by the fall of 2010,” Matyas said. “Customers tell us they want the most eco-friendly products available, so this year we’ve taken the initiative to develop PVC-free packaging. Once in place, shoppers can be confidant about this environmental contribution with any Staples item they buy.”

Comparison-shopping for just the right product now includes a demand for the lowest carbon footprint.

When shoppers are given choices, for example, many say that eco-friendly products are a meaningful way to make an individual contribution to the good health of the planet.

“If that many people come together and act on their convictions to reduce chemicals and contaminants from reaching landfill, it’s going to make such a difference to protecting our land, air, and waterways,” says Steve Matyas, president of office supplies retailer, Staples Canada.

Recycling is a continuous service at Staples where handy, in-store bins for used ink and toner cartridges, rechargeable batteries and unwanted cell phones, make it easy to discard these toxic items.

“And in keeping with this commitment, our stores have also stocked the shelves with at least 2,000 eco-friendly products,” Matyas continued. “As a low-cost retailer, it’s important for us to weigh value alongside our environmental impact. The answer was to give Canadian shoppers a lot of choice in sustainable products and supplies.”

• Eco-friendly notebooks by Staples, made from 80 percent bagasse, a sugarcane waste by product. The bagasse line also uses eco-conscious vegetable and water-based inks for printing.

2010 Toyota Corolla Still Tops In Fuel Efficiency

When shopping around for a new or used vehicle, individuals and families often consider a Toyota. The Toyota brand has been a trusted choice for many years, as the vehicles often last a long time and get very high mileage. This is why both old and new Toyotas are often seen on the road. Toyota has a small sedan, called the Corolla. The Toyota Corolla is a popular vehicle that has become known for both dependability and fuel efficiency.

The Toyota Corolla was completely redesigned in 2009, and more improvements were added to the 2010 model. Other than the XRS model, all 2010 Corollas come with a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine, which is rated at 132 hp and 128 pound-feet of torque. Corollas come with front wheel drive. A 5-speed automatic comes standard, and it gets 26 mpg (miles per gallon) in the city, 35 mpg highway, and 30 mpg combined. This vehicle also has an optional 4-speed automatic, which gets 27 mpg in the city. The fuel ratings were estimated by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). These estimates may vary slightly between cars of the same model.

To fill up the 13.2 gallon tank, it will cost an average of $30.65, depending on the fluctuations in gas price. If 15,000 miles are driven in a year, expect to pay about $1289 for gas in that year. This calculation is based on a gas price of $2.58 per gallon.

Fuel efficiency has become more important as gas prices rise. Fuel Efficiency in the 2010 Toyota Corolla is excellent. This is definitely a car to consider when shopping for a fuel efficient small sedan.

European Motorists Still Prioritize Fuel Economy

A recent poll conducted by the Detroit Free Press has shown that Michiganders prioritize fuel economy when choosing a car to buy. The result of the poll is mirrored by a recent study conducted by Harris Interactive AutoTECHCAST.

The study conducted in five countries in the European region shows that European motorists look at a car’s fuel efficiency when shopping for one. The reason is pretty much the same – people are looking for vehicles that have great fuel economy because of the increasing prices of gasoline, petrol, or diesel. The main reasons for the soaring price of these fossil fuels are fluctuations in market supply and instability in some countries which are major producers of oil.

France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom are the five countries where the study was conducted. Among these five countries, Spain showed the most number of respondents who said that fuel efficiency is the first thing on their list when looking for a car top buy. Sixty three percent of the Spanish respondents said that they are very or extremely likely to purchase a car based on its fuel economy. Italian respondents are the second group who are most concerned about the fuel efficiency of cars. About 45 percent of them said that it is the most important attribute of a car that would catch their interest. Meanwhile, 36 percent of the German respondents said that what they are looking for in a car is enhanced fuel economy.

Another aspect that the study tackled is the popularity of alternative fuels for cars. While hybrid electric cars are the rave in the US, European respondents feel otherwise. Twenty eight percent of the respondents in the study said that they are very or extremely likely to consider buying fuel-cell powered cars. The only problem being encountered here though is the cost in production of the fuel cells. The high production costs translate to higher prices of these cars which employ fuel cell technology. But further studies and development in that said field will considerably lower the production cost. This then will make fuel cell-powered cars more accessible to car buyers.

While the enhanced fuel economy of a car is the priority of most respondents, the preference for other attributes varies from country to country. British motorists, aside from enhanced fuel economy, also look at a car’s reliability and dependability. Meanwhile, French and Spanish consumers tend to value a car’s engine type. Spanish car owners put value in the quality of workmanship and construction of a car as well as its size.

A company’s reputation is also a main factor for British and French car owners when looking for a car to buy. Germans look at the value of the car against the money which will be spent buying it. Italian respondents said that they put much value on the exterior styling of the car and its overall aesthetic value.

While a car’s fuel economy is a significant factor in choosing one, aftermarket parts can also be installed to further increase its fuel efficiency. For example, an Iceman cold air intake component can increase a car’s fuel efficiency by cooling the air that will enter the combustion chamber.

Other characteristics that European car buyers deem important in choosing a car are the safety features of a car and its smooth or comfortable ride. They also appear to welcome some of the emerging automotive technologies today. When it comes to lighting systems, European motorists prefer halogen and xenon lighting, and light-emitting diode lighting systems. Park assists and object detection technology are also welcomed by the respondents. Rain sensor and automatic wipers as well as intelligent navigation systems are also considered essential by European vehicle owners.

VW Lease – Still the People’s Car

The name ‘Volkswagen’ translates literally to ‘People’s Car’, a name given to the car manufacturer in its first days in Germany. Although the company’s tag line is now ‘Das Auto’ (translating as simply ‘The Car’), Volkswagen cars are still very much the people’s car, given their current and continuing popularity. In fact VW cars are in demand so much that the car manufacturer has turned out the third largest volume of cars worldwide in the last year.
