Since we own(Taxpayers&Government)80% of GM,why can’t we start making an Electric Car?

I asked a question earlier today about watching”Who Killed the Electric Car” on the Green Channel.Let me know what you think about the movie,if you watched it.We are polluting “MOTHER EARTH” quicker than we thought, and I live on the Northern California where gas is $3.40 a gallon-I think higher than any place but Alaska. We are being ripped off and it time to do something different, you think?

Would you pay $5 dollars a gallon at the pump of would you start looking at buying an electric vehicle?

Nothing urgent about this answer, just a curiosity. I see drivers pull up to the pump in their big SUVs and wonder if they are happy with paying the amount they are paying, for the next few years, or even pay more. Or whether they would look into buying an electric SUV. As much as people complained about the range of the old electric vehicles, they still don’t do more than 60 miles a day in their SUVs. Now, new electric vehicles can go 3-5 times that range without charging.
