Infiniti to Release Redesigned Vehicles This Summer

The Nissan Motor Corporation is in the process of revitalizing its lineup as well as its luxury division Infiniti. This summer, Infiniti will be releasing the new G35 which, according to the auto industry experts, is gaining ground on its established competitors. The most notable competition for the G35 is the BMW 3 Series and the G35 is reportedly catching up with the German car.

For this summer, the shape of the G35 does not move away from the previous version of the entry-level sports sedan. While it looks similar to the previous G35, the new model is redesigned to have better interior features. According to its manufacturer, one of the most notable features that the new G35 has over its predecessor is the use of aluminum as accent pieces inside the car.

The car’s powerplant is also improved for the 2007 model year. The new G35 is now equipped with a 3.5-liter V6 engine which is rated to produce as much as 306 horsepower. That amount of power generated by the engine can propel the Infiniti G35 to 60 miles per hour from a standstill in just 5.6 seconds. This acceleration is faster than the BMW 330i, the Mercedes-Benz C350 and the Audi A4 3.2. While it as superior acceleration, the Infiniti G35 is rated to travel 19 miles on a single gallon of gasoline in city driving. For highway cruising, the G35 can run for 26 miles on a gallon of fuel. This is possible even without the use of performance enhancing components such as the Infiniti cold air intake system.

For the inside of the G35, Infiniti took the effort to use better materials. The use of higher quality materials is complemented by a better interior layout and color scheme. For the dashboard, the new G35 is given gauges illuminated by white/purple lights.

Another vehicle that will come to Infiniti dealerships across the United States this summer is the M Series, most notably the Infiniti M35X. The midsize luxury car is equipped with an improved engine for the 2007 model year. The top-of-the-line M35X is equipped with a 3.5-liter V6 engine which can produce as much as 275 horsepower. According to experts, the new engine is considered as one of the finest engines available today.

The M35X has a gas mileage rating of 17 miles per gallon for city driving. On highways, the engine can consume a gallon of gasoline after covering 24 miles. According to Infiniti, the new M35X will have a starting price of $44,550 when it hits showrooms in the U.S.

According to the maker of the M35X, it will come equipped with a long list of feature which includes a five-speed automatic transmission with manual mode which is expected to be the choice of performance enthusiasts. The midsize luxury car will also be available with anal-wheel drive configuration for better traction on different road conditions.

Safety features includes an anti-lock braking system complemented by an Electronic Brake Force Distribution system. It also has side impact airbags, rear seat head restraints and the standard front airbags to protect the occupants of the car in the unfortunate event of a crash.

With the release of these vehicles and the amount of buzz it has generated in the auto industry, Infiniti is being dubbed as a car maker on the rise. This is surely good news for Nissan.

Given her background on cars as an auto insurance director, Lauren Woods finds the world of cars to be constantly changing.

Toyota Plug-In Prius (PHEV) Press Release

Among “green” car owners, the OEM plug-in hybrid, or “PHEV”, is seen as the next evolutionary step in auto efficiency. PHEV’s plug into a source of electricity to recharge their batteries, then travel on pure electric power for a distance and get fuel efficiency ratings in the 100+ MPG range afterwards, thus reducing gasoline consumption, and significantly reducing pollution as well (even when the electricity comes from coal plants). Toyota released this video shortly after getting permission from the Japanese government to test drive their prototype PHEV on public roads. So far, no other company is this far along in development of a PHEV, though Chevy is trying to develop their “Volt” concept, and Ford wants an electric vehicle by 2010 as well.

Did you know bmw will release the first hydrogen powered car?

The BMW 7 Series Hydrogen 7 Saloon is powered by a 260 hp twelve-cylinder engine and accelerates from 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in 9.5 seconds. Top speed is limited electronically to 230 km/h. BMW has said it intends to build a few hundred such cars at first. They will be able to switch between burning standard petrol and hydrogen so that drivers will not be left stranded while the infrastructure to deliver hydrogen is built up. The space that two fuel tanks take up means only the 7-Series will offer the hydrogen package at first. BMW’s long-term goal is to offer hydrogen motors in all its cars
