More People ‘Needed for Green Energy Courses’

An environmental industrial revolution in Scotland may see an increased demand for green energy courses, according to Jim Murphy.

Up to 50,000 green collar jobs will be generated in the country by 2015 if Labour is elected at the next general election, said the secretary for state for Scotland while on a visit to Pelamis Wave Power in Edinburgh.

Mr Murphy’s pledge that thousands of green jobs will be created is part of Labour’s general election manifesto, which also includes the promise of a Green Investment Bank that would provide £2 billion for green projects across the United Kingdom.

He said: “Labour wants to bring a Green Industrial Revolution to Scotland. The green technologies being developed in Scotland are world leading and need support to grow.

“Scotland’s green industries will not only generate clean energy, but will generate jobs. With the right approach, green industries will bring tens of thousands of jobs to Scotland.”

An increasing number of people may be needed to take green energy courses in order to learn the specific skills needed to cope with the proposed rise in green collar jobs.

Potential green energy courses that people may be interested in could include a certification in Solar Domestic Hot Water, which will train students how to install a solar thermal system.

It is estimated there are currently 50,000 solar hot water installations in the United Kingdown and that number is continuing to increase resulting in a growing demand for competent, qualified installers.

Furthermore, with environmental awareness and energy prices continue to rise, more people may be needed to take green energy courses as households will be looking to reduce their carbon footprint and heating costs.

Mark Lazarowicz, Labour candidate for Edinburgh North and Leith, said: “Labour’s promise to people will kick start a green industrial revolution that will grow local businesses and bring jobs to Edinburgh.

“I believe that a number of these jobs should come to Edinburgh and if re-elected, I will campaign for this to happen.”

Mr Lazarowicz successfully piloted the Climate Change and Sustainable Energy Act, a private members bill into law in 2006.

New regulations have been laid by the Scottish Government which it claims will build further on its Climate Change Act and its target of reducing carbon emissions by 42 per cent by 2020.

People interested in vocational qualifications may like to know that an increasing number of students could be needed to take plumbing courses after the Scottish government launched its boiler scrappage scheme this month.

Hybrid Cars: the Vehicle for the Future for the People on Today?s Roads

July 3, 2010 by

Buying hybrid cars can seem a little daunting but not in the manner in what you may think, the complication in buying a Hybrid car is which one you should choose. To assist you in your purchase you will need to understand some of the basic principals on a Hybrid Electric vehicle (HEV).

All HEV’s have two energy sources for its engines: Electric and Combustion. When in everyday use on the road the car will run on either the Electric engine or the Combustion engine. However if the driver requires faster acceleration both engines will operate together.

There are many characteristics worth considering when purchasing a Hybrid Car, they have low emissions, are fuel efficient, and the battery actually recharges itself whilst you are driving therefore eliminating the need to plug into a wall socket like you would with a pure Electric Car.

There are also other considerations that must be taken into account when purchasing your HEV.

1. As a Prospective buyer you should have some level of understanding regarding the language that is used in relation to buying hybrid cars. According to the California Air Resources Board, Ultra Low-Emission Vehicle is a car with 50 percent cleaner emission, compared with that of a new 2001 model car.

A Super Ultra Low-Emission Vehicle emits 90% cleaner emissions than that of an average new 2002 model car. You will however have heard of cars that produce zero-emission but these are purely electric cars, and not hybrid cars, and at present pure electrical cars are impractical to produce.

2. You should also consider what you would use your HEV for. Hybrid cars are best used on short distance journeys in your local area if you were to use them on Highways or long journeys you would not be expected to get much Fuel reduction.

3. The other consideration is the cost, Hybrid Cars are usually more expensive than normal vehicles but this is due to the fact that at present there is only small numbers in production compared to Petrol cars and also they are more mechanically more complex. But these are only minor concerns considering what you will be saving on fuel.

The Federal State is at present encouraging people to buy HEV’s due to the long term benefits of limiting fuel usage. There are also several tax deductions for new buyers of hybrid cars, and several cities are also offering free parking as an additional incentive for low-emissions vehicles.

Therefore it is safe to say that the people, who buy hybrid cars, are the people who are buying the vehicles of the future.

Three Types of People Who Shouldn’t Buy A Hybrid Car | Advantages of Hybrid Cars

Three Types of People Who Shouldn’t Buy A Hybrid Car Thinking of getting a hybrid car? Well maybe you should think twice. Hybrid cars aren’t for everyone you know. These are three types of people who should not buy a hybrid car. The Wasteful Type This person doesn’t care about wasted air, wasted gas, or wasted money. He or she would rather just drive around and let their conventional cars be a detriment to the atmosphere. The Here and Now Type These people only care about the present. If conventional cars are dominating the roads now, a conventional car is what they want. So hybrid cars aren’t for these types at all. Anyone driving a hybrid car is sure to turn a head or two because there are thousands and even millions of people driving conventional cars. The I Don’t Need A Budget Type They figure that if they get paid more money than what they need each month; they don’t really need to care. Who cares how you spend it if you are going to have money left over anyway? These types of people just don’t know what it’s like to possibly save money. They just can’t conceive it. But the hybrid car saves people more than a little change. The Cars Shouldn’t Run On Batteries Type These types of people may be so set in their ways that they believe hybrid cars are completely electric. Well, these people can just keep on thinking that. They couldn’t be further from the truth. Hybrid cars are more than just electric. Hybrid cars differ greatly from electric cars. But you have to drive a
