These days, it seems like everyone is getting in on the fuel economy game. Consumers are tired of the old gas guzzling options, and interest has shifted heavily in favor of smaller, more fuel efficient cars in lieu of their larger predecessors. I know I’m definitely seeing the benefits of a owning a fuel efficient car; I bought my Toyota Prius three years ago, and the car has been dependable, reliable and much more affordable to own. So, the shift in the market has come as part of consumer demand and the shifting market.

And just in time, too. With the year auto sales had in 2009, it was absolutely crucial that manufacturers garner more consumer attention by differentiating themselves from the competition. The engine revolution has brought a lot of interest back to a relatively flat automotive market, and Naples Infiniti M45 dealerships have had a piece of that. But now, Infiniti is the next in a long line of luxury manufacturers to take the reigns and run with new fuel economy technology. In fact, the manufacturer’s new 2011 M37 and M56 models are the gearing up to hit the showroom at your Naples Infiniti M45 dealer.

The M37 and M56 models will replace the M45, giving Infiniti drivers a huge boost in power. These replacement models don’t stop with power; the M37 and M56 models also feature huge boosts in fuel economy, additions you won’t be able to find at your Naples preowned Infiniti M45 dealership. Not that Bonita Springs preowned Infiniti drivers should feel the need to reevaluate their current choice; the M45 model is definitely a reliable choice in terms of Infiniti vehicles. But just wait until you get to sit in the driver’s seat in either the M37 or M56 model. You’ll be blown away.

For its part, the M37 kicks the power up a notch or two – 27 notches, in fact, weighing in at a hefty 330 horsepower. The power of this vehicle is sweetened by its fuel economy, an impressive 18 miles per gallon in city driving and 26 miles per gallon on the highway. These numbers trump Bonita Springs preowned Infiniti vehicles, a sign that one of the world’s brightest manufacturers is interested in progression. The M56 does even better; at 420 horsepower, the M56 leverages a 5.6-liter engine to produce 16 miles per gallon in the city and 25 miles per gallon on the highway. Those are numbers that will make even the most avid Naples preowned Infiniti M45 drivers jealous.

Personally, I can’t wait for the release of the new M37 and M56 models, but I’m going to have to wait a little longer. And after hearing about the recent Prius recalls, I’ve honestly lost some faith in the Japanese manufacturer that started the whole fuel economy movement. It’s unfortunate that that is how things work, but I have the safety of my family and myself to worry about, so I can’t take any risks. An M37 model should replace my Prius in the coming months.

There are many products out there; from cars to light bulbs, that claim to be green, eco friendly or les harmful for the environment. But as there are no hard and fast rules as to what makes an eco friendly product or not it can be quite difficult to discern between something that claims it is green and something that actually is.

However, there is a good rule of them and four aspects that make up most eco-friendly products and checking for them can give you an idea if the product you are looking at is environmentally friendly or not.

What is the alternative

Many items claim to be eco-friendly because they use less energy than an alternative, but is this really what makes something greener. A car that uses an eco fuel system may be greener than a petrol model but not if you could just as easily walk to most of your destinations. So the first thing to ask when looking for eco-friendly products is – do I really need it?

Energy Saving

Energy efficiency is a key aspect to an eco friendly product. Global warming and climate change is linked to the CO2 that is ejected from our power use. Reducing the power we consume will benefit the environment so any product that uses less energy than similar products (and you need it) is greener.

Energy saving light bulbs, for instance, produce the same effect as regular lighting but use a third less power.

Sustainability and toxic materials

Another aspect to the green credentials of the goods we buy is what they are made of. If something doesn’t come from a sustainable source or contains harsh chemicals or toxic metals

Recycling

Eco friendly products should also be either made from a recyclable material or able to be recycled themselves (or parts of them). Products that do not degrade can linger in the environment for decades so anything that can avoid adding to the waste build up certainly qualifies for green credentials.

What Makes A Printer Environmentally Friendly?

The “Green era” is upon us, after hundreds of years destroying the planet, human kind has finally decided to take care of Earth. Governments across the globe are at last trying to set up schemes so industries will reduce their CO2 emissions, one of the major players in the global warming game.

One industry that has been investing big to work under the “eco friendly” label is the Printing industry. Over the years Printers have upgraded their printing facilities to reduce carbon footprint as well as reduce environmental impact by working with biodegradable inks and recycled papers.

But like in other industries, there are many Printers saying that have the rights to work under the “green printing label” when they don’t. This brings us to the sole purpose of this article. What makes a printer environmentally friendly?

To be considered an environmentally friendly Printer first and foremost, the Printer must earn a series of green credentials like the ISO 14001 Certificate.

The ISO 14001 is an international standard that specifies the actual requirements for an EMS (Environmental Management System). The ISO 14001 Environmental Management Standards exist to help organisations minimize how their operations negatively affect the environment and cause adverse changes to air, water, or land. They comply with applicable laws, regulations and other environmentally oriented requirements and continually improve on the above.

This certificate is not an easy one to obtain it requires planning and investments of time and money that is why it is one of the most respected green credentials there is.

Another well respected credential is the one from the FSC – Forest Stewardship Council – a certification system that provides internationally recognized standard-setting, trademark assurance and accreditation services to companies, organisations, and communities interested in responsible forestry.

The FSC certification is very similar to the PEFC – the world’s largest forest certification system. The PEFC works throughout the entire forest supply chain to promote good practice in the forest and to ensure that timber and non-timber forest products are produced with respect for the highest ecological, social and ethical standards. Thanks to its eco-label, customers and consumers are able to identify products from sustainably managed forests.

Other green credentials will vary from country to country.  There is a hand full of local green credentials a Printer could earn to reinforce their environmental concern and really earn that “Green Printing Label”.

Type of Paper used

Many Printers are opting for recycled paper but quality might not be as good as normal paper. By earning the FSC & PEFC certifications a Printer assures the paper that is being used comes from sustainable managed forests.

Reducing Carbon Footprint

There are many ways to reduce a printing facility carbon footprint. Reducing energy consumption is the major player here and my suggestion is to hire an energy consultancy firm to do a Carbon Trust Survey, which will indentify areas, where energy could be saved reducing the Mill’s carbon footprint.

If a Printer complies with all those items mentioned above it sure has the rights to work under the “Green Printing Label”.

Why Buying A Hybrid Car Makes You Feel Better

August 15, 2010 by

A Hybrid Car is interesting for everyone who wants to save money at the gasstation and who cares about the environment.
Small and economical cars are produced by more and more manufacturers.
Even though a hybrid car can sometimes be somewhat more expensive than a normal car, it does pay off to buy one.
Consider the following reasons before you buy a new car….

Smaller efficient engines
The fuel efficiency of a hybrid car is increased because of the small size and the use of light weight materials. One of the features of hybrids is that they can shut down the engine, when it’s not used. As soon as the cars stops, the engine is switched off and will be switched on again, when the car goes back into gear.
Hybrid cars are powered by a combination of an efficient gasoline engine, supported by an electric motor for the speed. The electric motor is powered by batteries that are being charged automatically by using the energy that you normally loose while breaking. When a car slows down, the electric motor runs backwards which results in the generator charging the batteries.
With all these fuel saving functions a hybrid can outperform a conventional car in many ways.

Environmental Friendliness

A hybrid car not only has a higher milage to the gallon, it also produces less polution than non-hybrid cars.
Another important reason that hybrid cars are more Environmentally Friendly is that they use much less fuel when they are stationary. Most hybrid cars use aerodynamic designs to reduce aerodynamic drag, which makes fuel usage even more efficient.
The tires are made of special rubber, which reduce friction on the road. The high capacity Nickel Metal Hydride Battery is very reliable and available for hybrid power.

Many choices
Since the popularity of hybrid cars keeps on growing, there’s more and more choice of cars.

Some of the models are:

Honda Civic Hybrid and Honda Insight
Toyota Camry Hybrid  and Toyota Prius
Lexus GS
Ford Fusion Hybrid
GMC
Chevrolet

In the near future, Hybrid SUV’s will be produced. Some manufacturers that are working on that are:  Saturnus, Lexus, Honda and Chevrolet.

Tax Incentives
For people who want to buy a hybrid car, there are many Tax Incentives. Please ask your local car dealer for more information
