Pugi Mazda dealerships watching new government regulations with interest

And here we go again. The government is stepping into the automotive industry and imposing regulations on automakers. I can’t say I’m surprised or that I disagree with the decision; after the mistakes of the past few years across all aspects of the industry, some of the biggest “fail” moments have come from the auto industry. Pugi Mazda drivers know all too well that the effects of the recession leaked heavily into the automotive industry and some manufacturers were affected differently than others. Regardless, it’s time for automakers to get serious about efficiency because it represents progression – economic, technological and ecological progression – that we must embrace if we want to move forward as a civilization. Downers Grove Pugi dealers are one of the places where you can see this progression happen.

But back to the government regulations. Beginning with models for the year 2011, fuel economy standards imposed by the government are going to get a big shake up. The original standards were set forth in the Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) law created in 1975. Pugi Mazda was happy to hear that those standards are getting an extreme bump up. For cars, the previous standard has sat static at a low 27.5 miles per gallon since 1990. For trucks, it’s at a very low 23.5 miles per gallon. The new standards will rise to 37.8 miles per gallon and 28.8 miles per gallon respectively by 2016. Downers Grove Pugi dealers aren’t very worried about the new standard as Mazda has traditionally embraced a pretty solid fuel economy stance. With solid vehicles like the Mazda 3, the standards should be extremely easy to meet.

The rest of the new CAFE requirements will leverage a wide variety of different criteria, so it would be pretty convoluted to try to get into it here. Regardless, Pugi Mazda understands the new standards, and I expect them to meet those standards without a problem. In fact, most manufacturers shouldn’t have a problem meeting the standards. The average is already up among most cars and trucks on the market; recent data collected claims that car fleets average 32.5 CAFE miles per gallon. Trucks weighed in at a solid 24.5 miles per gallon. Downers Grove Mazda drivers would be happy to find out that the brand’s average was higher than the general average.

It’s great to see that the auto industry is finally getting with the picture and answering consumer demand for smaller, more fuel efficient vehicles. After a meager 2009 and low sales before and after that, the industry was in the throes of something so horrific that it needed some form of mantra to shake things up. But here we are, still in the tail end of the recession, and we desperately needed the efficiency that automakers are beginning to deliver. With very little time before the electric vehicle hits the market, the auto industry is finally showing some ability to build buzz around the new things that they’re developing and putting on the market.

Fuel Efficient American Vehicles Generates Interest

July 3, 2010 by

The auto industry is changing as the demand for fuel efficient vehicles increases. The Big Three known for producing large vehicles are now in the process of developing and producing fuel efficient vehicles. General Motors, Ford and Chrysler have been facing their toughest battle yet with Asian car manufacturers who come to the United States auto market with fuel efficient vehicles. In order to stem the tide, the Big Three began developing smaller vehicles.

General Motors came up with the Saturn Aura while Ford sent out the Edge. Chrysler, on the other hand, entered with the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. These three models are currently catching the attention of car buyers. The popularity of these three auto modes may lead some to think that the vehicles are the best selling auto models of their respective manufacturers.

In reality, these vehicles are just becoming popular among car buyers and the larger vehicles produced by General Motors, Ford and Chrysler are still their best selling models. These fuel efficient vehicles show the way for the future of auto production for the Big Three. The American car manufacturers have been criticized for not coming up with such vehicles as the price of gasoline continue to increase. The arrival of the Aura, Edge, and Wrangler Unlimited though shows that even Detroit is jumping on the bandwagon of carmakers manufacturing fuel misers.

The popularity of these vehicles creates a “halo” effect. This means that the fuel efficient vehicles generate interest among car buyers. Interested individuals will then go to a dealership to inquire about the particular gas miser. Dealerships also display other auto models which car buyers would never consider if they have not seen it personally. This means that car manufacturers not only benefit from the sale of these fuel efficient vehicles but the sale also creates a way for them to introduce other auto models to car buyers.

“They are standard bearers for those brands and represent what those brands are about,” says Jack Nerad, the executive market analyst at Kelley Blue Brook as to the significance of these fuel efficient American cars. “They’re game-changers for brands trying to redefine themselves,” he added.

The disparity between sales of these fuel efficient vehicles compared to large vehicles is still great though. According to data provided by General Motors, they have sold 4,323 units of the Saturn Aura in April this year, complete with its standard features and is made easily available with Saturn roof racks. While the number of Auras sold for a single month is respectable, it pales in comparison to the number of Chevrolet Silverados which is reported to be at 49,436 units just for the month of April.

For Dearborn, Michigan-based Ford Motor Company, the best selling auto model is the Ford F-Series. In April of this year, Ford sold 56,692 F-Series trucks. That eclipsed the total number of the Ford Edge sold for the same month which according to Ford is 9,134 units. The same can be said between the Wrangler and Chrysler Group’s best selling Dodge Ram. For the month of April, 10,776 units of the Jeep Wrangler were sold but the 31,503 units of Dodge Rams sold for the same month shadows that sales feat.

Go Green Car Loan Offers Low Interest Rate

March 1, 2010 by

Go Green Car Loan rewards citizens who drive eco friendly and environmentally friendly vehicles by reducing their car loan interest rates up to 0.50% APR. Interest rates on green auto loans are determined according to how green your vehicle is. Lower pollutions, lower emissions and lower use of oil by the car you want to buy, reduces your interest rate accordingly.

The U.S EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) scores your vehicle based on their greenhouse gas emissions and fuel economy. And the most eco friendly vehicles receive a discount on purchase of their new or used Bank Car Loan. You can get the same discount on refinancing your existing car loans.

CarLoansMadeSimple is pleased to announce a new offer called “Go green” auto car loans for new and used auto loans to help you do your part in preserving the environment.

Now technically speaking there are a lot of used cars out there that top 30 mpg, and more than a few that reach into the 40s. Just about any Ford Festiva or Aspire will deliver 33 mpg. The mid-’90s Mazda Protégés are good for 30 mpg or so, as are the Dodge Colts of the early ’90s.

Go back a little further and the Honda CRX HF models will give you 39 to 45 mpg in a sporty two-seater that’s fun to drive. If you don’t mind driving the cheapest of cheap econoboxes, the 1985 Chevrolet Chevette got 36 mpg and the ’87 Chevrolet Sprint got 40.

The auto industry has spent much of the past decade cranking out SUVs, but it has managed to offer a few highly efficient cars as well. The Toyota Echo delivers 30 mpg or better, as does the Honda Civic. The Chevrolet Prizm and Mini Cooper come close. Volkswagen’s diesels are good for mileage in the low 30s.
