If you’re going to be driving a lot, paying a little more for a fuel-efficient car could be a money-saver in the long run.

A Greener Wash Wax for Safer Car Cleaning

Protecting your car, truck, RV, or boat from enemies such as ultraviolet light, ozone damage, and inclement weather is important if you want your vehicle’s appearance to have a fresh, new look for a long time. You can accomplish this by applying a protecting finish to the interior and exterior surfaces of your vehicle to guard against damage from environmental elements as well as scratches, spills, and stains.

Unfortunately, many of the car cleaning waxes and sealants on the market today may actually be contributing to your car’s damage, especially if they contain petroleum distillates as ingredients. Petroleum distillates are used in car care products because they dissolve waxes and silicones in order to make them spreadable. They will also cut through oily dirt, light grease, and help to lubricate your car’s surface to prevent scratching.

However, that’s not the whole story. What they haven’t told you is that if the petroleum distillates used in your car care products are not formulated properly, they can cause cracking of plastic, rubber, and vinyl. Additionally, when applied to the new generation of softer, water-based paints, the petroleum distillates can remove the sealant, leaving your paint vulnerable to the aging effects of the environment.

They can also dissolve the adhesive on the back of decals, striping, or lettering. Both 3M and Avery, makers of adhesive-backed striping and decals, have specifically recommended against using petroleum distillate-based products on their products.

Petroleum distillates also come with health hazards. They can cause eye irritation, respiratory irritation, and gastrointestinal irritation. And if you’re a green car owner, you’ll want to find an alternative to petroleum distillates since they’re obviously derived from crude oil.

Not all petroleum distillates will cause problems, however. There are different grades of petroleum distillates, but unfortunately, there is no way of know what type of petroleum distillate is used in any one product you may want to use on your vehicle. The only way to be safe, therefore, is to avoid petroleum distillates whenever possible.

Recycled Wood: for a Greener Environment

Recycling, a process of converting scrap into reusable form has been term long associated with electronic, chemical, glass and textile items but recently. Not only because the Recycled Furniture is environment friendly, but also because it is rather affordable. People are fast doing away with the stigma of second hand stores and looking towards recycled furniture for home decorations. To suit their personalities, they get the furniture coated with trendy colors.  

Another use of recycled wood comes across when you plan to pick up windows for your home. Though glass windows cannot be recycled commercially, people are using recycled windows to build up complete news structures in their backyard. A greenhouse or a sun house made from recycled windows can not only give a new dimension to your home but also save a large part of your budget, you thought of spending on new construction materials. 

With the increase in consciousness among the consumers, the producers are also gradually becoming innovative in the use of recycled wood. Woods are now not only recycled but are made water resistant, termite resistant before they are sent in to the market.  Home decorators are now suggesting use of recycled wood in making balconies, court yards and garden paving. 

Before purchasing the wood, you can always ask the supplier about the origin of the wood. Some suppliers may fail to answer the proper source from where the wood came from; in that case you can consider a different supplier. How can someone who is not will to sacrifice much be “greener”?

I am not willing to give up my cars, daily driver is a car with a supercharged V8 engine, the other vehicle is a V8 full sized SUV that is mainly used to tow stuff)

I am not willing to install low-flow fixtures. I like a powerful commode and a shower head that will drench you in 3 seconds flat.

I will not change my diet. Humans did not work themselves up to the top of the food chain to eat salad.

I will not sacrifice capability of any product (appliances, cleaning solutions, electronics, etc.) in exchange for eco-friendliness.

I will not live in a smaller house or apartment, I like having a lawn, a garage, and an in-ground pool.

I am unwilling to change the thermostat in my house. It stays at 70 degrees year-round.
