Article Source: http://www.articlesbase.com/ – The Fuel-Efficient 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer Engine
Mitsubishi is addressing the fuel crunch with multiple engine options for the 2010 Lancer model. With a 22 to 31 miles per gallon average, a one gallon increase from 2009, the MIVEC (Mitsubishi Valve Timing Electronic Control) engine options for the 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer easily marry performance with the green initiative.
Both the DE and ES Mitsubishi Lancer models include all-aluminum MIVEC 2.0 liter engines with the choice of 152 or 142 horsepower, the latter only if the Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle version engine is selected. The Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle standard in some states motivated Mitsubishi to craft engines that not only offer Mitsubishi performance, but conform to the standard which is the highest rating available for non-hybrid vehicles. MIVEC engines with the Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle standard provide an easy choice for helping the environment without losing out on engine power or craftsmanship. Mitsubishi has developed a vehicle that is fun to drive and works to help the environment.
The Lancer GTS and RALLIART models offer engines that answer any demand for considerable power upgrades in comparison with the DE and ES models. The 2010 GTS model option includes a 168 horsepower 2.4 liter MIVEC engine, while the Mitsubishi Lancer RALLIART boasts a potently powerful intercooled 237 horsepower MIVEC engine respectively. While impressive, these engine choices are no different than those previously available for the 2009 GTS or RALLIART models.
The 2010 MIVEC engines for the Mitsubishi Lancer no matter the option provide power, durability, value, and fuel efficiency. However, the DE, ES, GTS, and RALLIART models are all essentially the same engine options from 2009.

By now, you might be tired of hearing about it, but I’ll tell you for a fact, you have to be glad it is happening. Of course, I’m talking about the automotive industry’s push towards better fuel economy to reduce its environmental footprint, help destroy America’s dependency on oil from foreign countries and lower the total cost of ownership as it depends on gas. These are all huge benefits, so it’s nearly impossible to say you don’t care. By now, you’ve probably also heard about Toyota’s role as a leader in cutting-edge technology. But it’s a New Year and time for new manufacturers to make a play in the fuel efficiency space.
The reform movement in engine technology is a long time in coming. I’ve been keeping abreast of the latest developments because I’m a pretty big advocate for green living. Businesses and individuals have a responsibility to our environment, and through that social responsibility comes a lot of added perks associated with efficiency. Prior to really dedicating myself to the eco-movement, I was a huge fan of large vehicles. That’s why the dawn of the crossover was such a great compromise for me; I could leverage the power, strength and style of SUVs everywhere and still end up with a car that doesn’t hog the road and plays to a lot more strengths in efficiency.
Hyundai dealers in Indianapolis are about to get a huge push in the form of the upgraded 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe, a vehicle that has been available at Indianapolis Hyundai cars dealers for awhile now but was “officially” unveiled at the 2010 North American International Auto Show in Detroit this month. While the new model features a mildly updated platform in comparison to last year’s, some of the upgrades are pretty fun, while other serve a heavy purpose. New features include XM NavTraffic for real time traffic updates, standard touch-screen navigation on all models, optional rear view cameras and an “Eco-Indicator” light to make sure you’re driving as efficiently as possible.
But that’s not all of the great benefits and upgrades your Hyundai dealers in Indianapolis are featuring as part of the 2010 Santa Fe. New powertrains offer big improvements in fuel efficiency. The base model comes standard with a 2.4-liter DOHC Theta II inline four cylinder engine that puts out 175 horsepower, while an optional 3.5-liter Lambda II engine pumps 276 horsepower. The mileage figures have been upped 20 miles per gallon in city driving and between 26 and 28 miles per gallon on the highway. You’ll find great crossover efficiency when you visit your Indianapolis Hyundai cars dealership this year.
Your Indianapolis used car dealer has a lot going for it, but if you’re looking for true fuel efficiency you’ll want to buy new. Mild exterior design changes help make the new Santa Fe much more aesthetically pleasing in addition to its technology changes. In a couple of years, the 2010 Santa Fe should be a hot item at your Indianapolis used car dealer.

Repeated up as oil prices, continued listing of a variety of fuel-efficient products, but they can be fuel-efficient fuel-saving product really do? Or there are other transmission of the disease? ? China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association report released May 10 showed that a quarter of domestic oil prices, 0 # diesel oil and 93-quarter average price of gasoline rose more than 25% year on year.
With the continuous rise in international crude oil prices, oil prices, “indeed affect the whole body,” a direct impact on owners of “purse.” Online Shop, dealers of various energy-saving technology, fuel-saving devices and other products become increasingly popular, but experts believe that fuel-efficient cars mainly rely on technology, market, true or otherwise of the “Saving the wind,” we should not follow. Very attractive short-term publicity readers not effective Newspaper readers to call the hotline, Mr. Gao said last month he saw a fuel-efficient car decoration shop products can claim more than 30% fuel economy. Tempted, Mr. Gao spent 35 yuan to buy a bottle into the tank against. Use a month later, Mr. Gao did not find the oil money for a sub-province products was challenged to find business results, the other to finish the 3,000 km that can better reflect the future effect of fuel economy, the use of short, one month can not determine whether fuel-efficient, but also ran up to buy more bottles were observed for a period of time with easy to use well, heard that remark Mr. Gao feel like fools. Investigate more common fuel-efficient sales network Chen Cheng reporter yesterday visited the western region and parts of several automotive supplies market, the market found a common gasoline additive and the oil line cleaning additives, but the fuel-saving devices are rare. A certain brand of auto parts dealers tell, this products are mainly sold through the network. ‘s Internet search, it was found that a lot of selling fuel-efficient products in a big way. These companies have claimed that fuel-saving device is used the most advanced technology, the United Nations, the most authoritative research, combined with the traffic situation in China developed from. Some said that using nanotechnology, some say personally designed by the Nobel laureate. Aspects of the product claims to save fuel efficiency by 6% to 25%, increased 8% to 30% power, and more products hit the banner of saving 50%, also can protect the engine, to reduce carbon deposition, to improve the exhaust and so on. The fuel-efficient, which claim to nano-device can be “refined by high fuel molecules, to improve the burning conditions to promote complete combustion of fuel,” the use of this product, “fuel economy as high as 16%.” There are products that are fuel-efficient additives added directly to the tank, and some products claim to be “imported products”, and get the relevant test certification. The reporters found that the price of these fuel-saving devices are also high and low, less than 10 dollars the cheapest, most expensive up to several thousand dollars. According to a telephone line, reporters call the Guangdong several fuel-saving device companies, which are agents that are seeking franchisees, but the real effect of the product but makes no mention. The key to fuel-efficient cars see voice technology -Saving products for the effect of certain Beier Road Auto Parts City, a brand agent what that old and fuel-efficient products can not be said to lie, but certainly a lot of fuel-efficient products exaggerated, domestic and foreign auto experts have automotive fuel-efficient technologies in research, the current competition between car manufacturers is very intense, if the fuel-saving device which is really useful, will certainly be in the vehicle manufacturers to install the factory to increase the competitiveness of products in the market, there Consumers no longer need to purchase their own installation. Owners told Mr. Wu, now on the market of fuel-efficient product variety, and lack of authority of the department’s inspection report. Some energy-saving products but also in the accelerator moving minor surgery, a small modification in the car mechanically, and therefore such products off trying. Tiexi District a car maintenance car repair professional chef Mr Li suggested that normally opened the car a few years the use of such products may have some effects, such as reduction of carbon deposition, cleaning engines, but it is only to improve vehicle performance, to seek fuel economy of these products, product prices may be more than paying the money to save the oil. Want even more fuel-efficient driving skills in real effort. Reporter Wang Yuan Expert: Saving space is limited Professor of Automotive Engineering, Tsinghua University Professor F lows earlier interview that the combustion efficiency are generally EFI car can reach nearly 98%, leaving room for only 2% fuel economy? 3%. There are numerous additives are not present direct fuel-efficient, but by cleaning the fuel system to revert to the original combustion efficiency, thereby indirectly aims to achieve fuel economy. If a new car, their fuel systems are clean, no need to clean up. Mileage if the vehicle is longer, or refuel in the field, you can use some additives on the combustion system to clean vehicles. Single from the fuel-saving considerations, add a bottle of 50 liters of gasoline additives, for example, 3% of each fuel-efficient, that is 1.5 liters; and additive prices nearly 20 yuan a bottle, you can buy nearly 4 liters of petrol soar.

Hydrogen Powered Cars – The Fuel-Efficient Cars
August 26, 2010 by admin
Standing on the phase where the fuel depletion is the major problem of all country, Hydrogen Powered cars had come as blessing. Hydrogen Powered Cars are now denoted as cars of the future though it’s invention can be traced back in past. In 1807 Francois Isaac de Rivaz designed the first Hydrogen car but it had some problem and not even patented. Many experiments were taken in this field from then on and finally in 1970 Paul Dieges patented the invention.
Some of the Hydrogen Powered Cars use hydrogen fuel cell while some have converted gasoline powered combustion engine. Fiberforge manufactured the earliest Hydrogen Powered Car; they called it as “Revolution”. Experiment came out as a method of producing ultra-lightweight automobiles using carbon composites. But it too faced many problems. They realized that they have to reduce the weight of the car for better fuel mileage.
There are many big companies in market who want to take advantage of this fuel crisis. Audi, Ford, GM, Honda, Hyundai, Volkswagen, BMW are just few companies who are planning to launch Hydrogen Powered Cars. BMW HR2 claims to be “world’s fastest hydrogen car” exceeding 185mph. It does not operate on fuel cell. It uses modified 6-litre, 12 cylinder combustion engine for its propulsion. While Honda claims to make more efficient fuel cell car that can go 220 miles before it need next refueling as compared to 90 miles per tank limit for the Mercedes. Mercedes F600 Hygenius Concept Car is powered by hydrogen fuel cell and uses regenerative braking to recapture energy and recharge batteries.
In 2005 Honda gave first glimpse of Hydrogen Powered car, FCX, which was not more than a prototype. The car was never placed in the market. Honda is now coming with its new FCX Clarity, which runs on hydrogen and electricity, with light body weight and more interior room. They are planning to place more than 200 cars on road in coming three years. John Mendel, executive vice president at America Honda Motor Company, called on this occasion “an especially significant day for American Honda as we plant firm footsteps towards the main streaming of fuel cell cars.”
Pros and cons: -
Hydrogen Powered Cars are fuel-efficient cars. Chemical energy of hydrogen converted in fuel power in internal engine as it reacts in fuel cell with oxygen. Hydrogen fuel is energy carrier and not the source. Electrolysis of water is being used to produce fuel. The only by product it give is water. Thus it is eco-friendly with zero emission. It will save money on fuel and also lessen our dependence on OPEC. It will increase car performance as well as gas mileage. And to promote these cars, buyers will receive nice tax break.
The Hydrogen Powered Cars face some challenges too. The consumers have to pay huge amount to posses one of these cars. Therefore manufacturers have to use less expensive technology without ignoring the safety measures. There have to be adequate refueling stations so that consumers do not face any problem. California is the leading country in building refueling stations. 20% of the cars manufactured by America are purchased by Californian.
Bush Reviews More Fuel-efficient Autos

US President George W. Bush took another day in the nation’s capital to look over some advanced vehicles that are powered by flexible and alternative fuels. At a U.S. Postal facility, Bush reviewed a group of advanced technology commercial vehicles after meeting with the CEOs of General Motors, Ford and DaimlerChrysler’s Chrysler Group at the White House.
Bush discussed about the need for additional government funding of research top auto executives that include Rick Wagoner, the Chairman and CEO of the General Motors Corporation; Alan Mulally, the President and CEO for the Ford Motor Co.; and Tom LaSorda, the President and CEO for the Chrysler Group. The automaker’s CEOs alluded to the president’s proposition, suggesting that the White House may be more open to upping research funding for automakers, especially on advanced batteries.
Bush was quoted saying: “I’ve just spent quite a while talking to our CEOs of American automobile companies. And I was interested in their take on my goal of reducing gasoline consumption by 20 percent over the next 10 years.”
He added, “I found it very interesting that by 2012, 50 percent of the automobiles in America will be flex-fuel vehicles. That means that the American consumer will be able to either use gasoline or ethanol, depending upon, obviously, price and convenience.”
Wagoner said, “From General Motors’ perspective, we very much share the President’s vision, and we definitely see a path through to both lower oil consumption, lower amounts of imported oil, and fewer carbon emissions. And obviously, a near-term opportunity that we are moving on right now, as the President cited, is flex-fuel vehicles that are powered by E85 ethanol.” He added, “There are millions on the road today. As a group, we’ve agreed to double our production by the year 2010, and then have 50 percent of our production E85-capable by the year 2012.”
“The goal I laid out of reducing gasoline by 20 percent over 10 years is a realistic goal,” Bush noted. “In other words, this isn’t a pipe dream, this is something that our nation can accomplish. It’s going to take more research dollars, it’s going to take working with the private sector, and it’s going to take innovative leadership.”
Bush also met with officials from the U.S. Postal Service, Fedex, UPS and DaimlerChrysler “to talk about how we are using new technologies to convert truck fleets, bus fleets to vehicles that will be able to help meet the goal of reducing gasoline usage by 20 percent over 10 years.” He also witnessed three DaimlerChrysler-built vehicles and a GM-built advanced technology which are used as a U.S. Postal vehicle.
The president’s gasoline reduction proposition intends to dramatically increase ethanol use by 2017, to 35 billion gallons per year, and increasing the fuel efficiency of vehicles to limit gasoline usage by five percent, or 8.5 billion gallons yearly. The White House said that reaching that goal will require automakers to raise fuel efficiency of vehicles by an average of four percent annually.
Bush’s proposition analysis could cost the auto industry $114 billion between 2010 and 2017, including $85 billion for domestic auto manufacturers. Automakers have strongly opposed that aspect of the plan, though they support reforming the way passenger car fuel economy regulations are set.
There is no need to apply EBC greenstuff braking for the goal towards cleaner environment plus the curbing of foreign oil reliance could be enjoyed by the nation in due time.

Buses Named Most Fuel-efficient U.s. Transportation Mode
August 2, 2010 by admin
Nathan Associates, a consulting firm, announced that buses are the most fuel-efficient transportation mode in the United States. The report showed that motor coaches offered 148.4 passenger miles per gallon in 2004.
This figure shows that the mode of transportation is doing its share in the reduction of fuel consumption of the country. A bus capacity to accommodate a huge number of persons made them the most fuel-efficient mode of transportation.
The sector though is suffering from the declining number of passengers which is due to the advent of air travel which have become cheaper. This takes a lot of passengers fore this mode of transportation in the U.S. While there may be lesser passengers on today’s inter-city buses compared in the past, the sector still provides good fuel savings for the country.
According to the study, the second most fuel efficient sector is inter-city trains which provided 74.1 passenger miles per gallon. Air carriers meanwhile also offered 40.9 passenger miles per gallon. Automobiles only achieved 35.4 passenger miles per gallon for the same year.
The American Bus Association President, Peter J. Pantuso, has this to say about the result of the study: “As energy conservation and environmental issues take center stage in Congress and with the traveling public, the motor coach industry is proud to be the leader in transportation fuel efficiency. Motor coaches are striving to do their part to help the U.S. achieve energy security.”
This study shows that even as the auto industry is developing ways to increase fuel efficiency, other sectors are already providing good value for the amount of fuel that they consume. This also shows that every sector in the U.S. is doing its share to support the administration’s goal to reduce fuel dependence on other countries.
The sector will be a good help in making President Bush’s “Twenty in Ten” program. While most buses today are running on petroleum diesel, their switch to biodiesel is forthcoming. This means that the sector can increase their efficiency and at the same time take care of the environment. As the country strives to address the global warming issue, the sector is in a position to help out in the goal.
According to the study, “the motor coach transportation service industry is the number one people mover. In 2005 the industry carried 631,000,000 passengers in the United States and Canada alone. The motor coach transportation service industry carries one-fourth more passengers than the airline industry and twice more than Amtrak and commuter rail combined.” The buses employed by the industry are even more fuel efficient than automobiles equipped with performance enhancing aftermarket parts like Saturn cold air intake system.

Along with the heat of summer come high gas prices. Consumers will undoubtedly want to find ways to save a few dollars at the pump.
Drivers are often encouraged to improve their vehicle’s fuel economy by reducing air conditioning use, and checking important parts (like Mazda auto parts) — changing filters regularly, checking tire pressure, having fuel injectors cleaned and using a fuel additive to increase engine performance.
But are consumers actually using these fuel economy tips to help save money?
A recent Kelley Blue Book Marketing Research study on fuel economy has revealed that nearly six out of 10 consumers say they would be likely to change their filters at scheduled intervals and/or check their tire pressure regularly to achieve greater fuel economy or save money. Nearly seven out of 10 consumers (68 percent) also believe that by performing some or all of the recommended gas-saving maintenance to their car, they would save up to $200 annually.
“Gas prices have reached levels that are causing consumers to take steps they may not have when pump prices were more moderate to improve fuel economy and save a few dollars,” said Jack Nerad, executive editorial director and executive market analyst for Kelley Blue Book’s kbb.com. “If these consumers actually perform all of these gas saving tips, it’s likely they could save up to 15 or 20 percent of their entire fuel costs annually.”
But the survey also revealed that only 23 percent say they would be willing to reduce air conditioning use. Even less popular options include having fuel injectors cleaned (17 percent), and using a fuel additive in each fill-up to increase engine performance (five percent).
Meanwhile, 26 percent of those surveyed said they would employ all of these recommended fuel-saving tips to achieve greater fuel economy or save money, and a contrasting five percent said they would do none.
When thinking about their next new-vehicle purchase, 69 percent of consumers are likely to change the vehicle they drive in order to improve their fuel economy or money situation: 22 percent would buy a hybrid version of a vehicle they already have; 21 percent would take a step down in vehicle size; 14 percent say they would buy a vehicle with a smaller engine or an engine with less power; and 12 percent say they would buy a diesel vehicle. Thirty-one percent of consumers say they would not change their next vehicle to improve fuel economy.

Fuel-efficient Car Makes 3 Autos in the Driveway
July 26, 2010 by admin
With gas prices rising above $3 a gallon nationwide, many drivers are pushed to purchasing small cars. But hundreds of thousands of owners are not giving up anything to downsize. Instead, they opt to add fuel-efficient cars to their driveways, parked alongside their SUV or pickup.
In households that own a small car, the family fleet is close to an average of three vehicles, according to CNW Marketing Research, which tracks industry trends. These growing fleets suggest an approach to conservation that is more addition than subtraction. “Small cars are like a fashion statement,” said Art Spinella, the president of CNW Marketing. CNW data also showed that more than 500,000 were sold last year as second or third cars in a household for three small cars, the Toyota Prius and Corolla and the Honda Civic.
Ken Collinsworth purchased a Toyota Yaris last month for his daughter to take to college this fall. But with gasoline price close to $4 a gallon near his home in Paso Robles, Calif., Collinsworth has been forced to driving the Yaris instead of his BMW X5 SUV and his GMC Sierra pickup. “I steal it from her every chance I get,” said Collinsworth, 53, who added that he would like to get another Yaris.
In another era, he might be pitied for parking one of his luxury cars to drive around in a gas saver. But unlike small cars introduced in the past, which had limited creature comforts, the latest bunch, including the Yaris, Nissan Versa, and the Honda Fit, can be bought with many of the same sought-after options as their bigger siblings, like navigation screens or iPod connections.
“It is a fundamental change,” Spinella said. “People are willing to buy small cars because they are more sophisticated.” And buyers appear willing to pay a lot for them. In 1990, buyers stuck to the low end of the scale when they bought a small car, CNW’s data showed. More than three-quarters opted for basic no-frills models, sometimes even forgoing a radio to keep the price down.
Now, ninety percent of purchasers are buying fully loaded small cars, the data revealed. “You look at these cars, and they have 16-inch wheels and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and a high-quality interior,” said A. Andrew Shapiro, a partner in the Casesa Shapiro Group, an auto industry investment and advisory firm. “They aren’t econoboxes, they’re just smaller cars.”
Pierre Tremblay, 67, of Howell, Mich., purchased a Toyota Prius this month because driving his Dodge Ram pickup 40 miles round-trip to work was costing so much. So far the Prius is getting 55 miles per gallon, compared with 13 for the truck. “I can go to work now, back and forth, on less than a gallon. Before it was at least three,” said Tremblay, a maintenance manager for a cement company.
With regular unleaded gas averaging $3.53 a gallon in Michigan this week, according to AAA, that is a savings of over $8 every workday. But Tremblay was not ready to get rid of his pickup, which is used to haul a camping trailer. The Acura head gasket and accessories as well as tempting huge luxury vehicles could not change his mind.
Americans have spent $20 billion more on gasoline so far this year compared with 2006, according to a recent report by the Government Accountability Office. “From a dollars-and-cents point of view, it doesn’t make sense,” said Jesse Toprak, the director of industry analysis for Edmunds.com, a Web site that offers car-buying advice. “There’s no way you’re going to drive it enough to justify the purchase, so it’s more of a psychological decision.”

Conserve Energy with Fuel-Efficient Vehicles
Today, prospective car buyers do not only look for performance and aesthetics in the vehicle they intend to buy. They specifically want a fuel-efficient engine that will allow them to save on gas, especially with today’s unpredictable fuel prices. Finding a vehicle with such quality is not difficult thanks to modern vehicles that are equipped with advanced engines and supporting parts. Aside from allowing the vehicle to accelerate better than before, these modern components also enable the vehicle to be more energy efficient. Better road performance with minimal energy or fuel consumption is the idea behind the vehicles being produced these days. Rising fuel prices make these energy–saving automobiles even more relevant.
Still, more and more vehicle manufacturers nowadays are designing engines that run on alternative energy sources. Proof of this is the limited number of solar-powered vehicles that have been introduced to the market. Solar panels, usually installed on the roof, convert the sun’s energy into electrical energy that runs the various vehicle components. Aside from the solar-powered driving machines, hybrid vehicles are also becoming increasingly popular now. These are equipped with an engine that uses two or more different power sources. With these new inventions and innovations being presented to the world at large, consumers now have great choices if they want to take an active part in energy conservation.
Vehicles that use alternative energy sources are still costly and not everyone can afford to buy one. Nevertheless, even the common car owner can save energy in his car by practicing some helpful energy saving tips. One is to keep the engine well-tuned. Start by having a regular check-up of your under-the-hood components. In doing so, defective parts can be found and the appropriate replacements sourced as soon as possible. Another tip is to replace air filters on a regular basis. Clogged air filters are unable to supply the required amount of oxygen to the combustion chambers; hence, fuel burn is not as efficient. Impurities are also more likely of getting inside the engine if air filters are dirty. Moreover, keeping your engine parts well-oiled with the manufacturer’s recommended motor oil is another means to more efficient engine performance. Observing these tips ensures a car owner with a more energy-efficient vehicle.
