It fuels its automobilies with biogas made from capturing the energy in garbage, sewage, slaughterhouse waste and manure. Some of this biogas, plus wood chips and methane from a landfill are burned to boil water and produce steam that turns turbines and creates electricity. The hot water then is used to heat buildings. This is an astonishing accomplishment–a lesson in the transformative power of green energy.
