More and more people are turning to hybrid cars these days because of their promise of lesser fuel consumption and environmental friendliness. Hybrid cars, because they run on both fuel and battery-powered engines, eat up less fuel, thereby sparing the consumer the pain of falling prey to price pressures in the world oil market. In addition, it also emits significantly less smog pollutants in the air, compared to traditional fuel-operated cars. Indeed, there are a lot of advantages to owning hybrid cars. This is why even the US government is starting to show support by welcoming more models into the country and by encouraging American auto makers like General Motors and Ford to make more units.

Here are some of the advantages of hybrid cars:

1) Efficiency – Hybrid cars are electrically operated and are thus able to function well and consistently at any motor speed. This is in contrast to conventional gas-powered engines, which tend to produce less power in low revolutions per minute episodes. Hybrid cars do not need to use transmissions to make their engines run at full capacity even at reduced speeds.

2) Economy – One of the advantages of hybrid cars is that the feature called “regenerative braking”. Since a hybrid car works using both electric power and fuel power, each can function by itself or conjunction, depending on which is stronger at the time of use. This means that both engines complement each other and do not simply bog one when one of them becomes weaker.

3) Convenience – Because hybrid cars are part battery powered, they do not create huge holes in the pocket, compared to users of traditional cars who feel the pain of the continuing oil price increases. Most hybrid cars, particularly the ones that are made in Japan, are also more compact and lightweight, making them easier to maneuver on the road. Other models, particularly those by American and European car makers also do not deviate from the stylish designs their regular counterparts adopt, so users don’t have to feel they are being left out in the style department.

4) Sustainability – Sure, hybrid cars are fairly new, so their immediate impact on the environment cannot be foreseen in the short term. However, over the course of time, the next generations will definitely be thankful for having a clean, pollution free world, thanks in part to hybrid vehicles.

Some critics say that it is not the time to buy hybrid vehicles because they are expensive. However, when you consider the advantages, you really shouldn’t think twice. While you must be discerning in choosing the right model for your needs, this doesn’t mean you start hesitating. After all, when more people start buying hybrid cars, manufacturers will see the need to produce more and eventually bring its price to very affordable levels.

Consider A Hybrid Car To Save Gas

Why you should consider a hybrid Vehicle…

Hybrid vehicles work by combining a gas powered engine with an electric motor generator that gets power from a battery pack. You do not need to plug in or charge your hybrid, as most vehicles have the ability to charge themselves while you are driving. This onboard system is called RESS (rechargeable energy storage system).

You may already know that hybrid vehicles are a good way to reduce pollution and harmful emissions and are therefore more environmentally friendly. But did you know that a hybrid vehicle can save you up to 250 gallons of gas each year?

There is also a special program implemented by the IRS that allows new owners of hybrid vehicles to apply for a tax break. Your local tax preparation office or any dealership that sells hybrid vehicles can tell you more about this special financial benefit.

You can expect to pay a few thousand more for a hybrid vehicle than you would a non-hybrid of the same type. How much the vehicle costs will depend on the year, make and model. For example, the affordable Honda Accord hybrid runs around $30,000. On the other end of the spectrum, the luxury RX400h SUV hybrid offered by Lexus will cost at least $10,000 to $15,000 more.

With rising gas prices and increasing alarm about the condition of our environment, hybrid vehicles are becoming more and more mainstream with each passing day. If you’re considering purchasing a hybrid vehicle, research is the first order of business. It’s always a good idea to do a little preliminary searching online before ever entering a dealership so you will know more about the vehicles you are interested in as well as how much you can expect to pay for them. You may initially be paying more for a hybrid car, but when you consider the overall benefits, purchasing a hybrid vehicle may prove to be a wise investment.

Why You Should Consider A Hybrid Car

In America, a standard automobile gets an average of 20.4 miles per gallon.  With the innovative hybrid technology, consumers can expect to get a lot more mileage for their dollar.  According to researchers, the Honda Insight was designed specifically for the purpose of getting the best gas mileage and is said to be the current industry leader in this type of hybrid savings.

Just how much of a difference will consumers see with the Honda Insight hybrid cars?  Studies have shown that hybrid cars featuring a manual transmission will get approximately 60 miles per gallon in the city and 66 miles per gallon on the highway.  Hybrid cars with an automatic transmission generally provide slightly less than 57 miles per gallon in the city and 56 miles per gallon on the highway.

The brand new 2006 Honda Civic hybrid cars are only manufactured with an automatic transmission and provide an approximate 50 miles per gallon on the highway and/or the city.

As expected, hybrid cars will get better mileage per gallon than that of a hybrid SUVs.  The Ford Escape, for example, provides 36 miles per gallon in the city and 31 miles per gallon on the highway.  Even with these numbers, the hybrid Escape is rated to provide better gas mileage than the non-hybrid Escape, which is only said to provide 22 miles per gallon in the city and 25 miles per gallon on the highway.

The most popular reason for consumers to purchase hybrid cars is because they are economical.  With the recent rise in gasoline prices, consumers were left searching for an automobile that could provide better gas mileage and found just that in hybrid cars.  In addition to their fuel friendly design, hybrid cars are no longer confined to one or two cookie cutter designs.  In fact, today’s hybrid cars are available in a variety of sizes, colors and are manufactured by a several automobile makers.

With all of the aforementioned benefits, many wonder just how much the convenience of saving money will cost.  Surprisingly, hybrid cars are not drastically priced above other non-hybrid automobiles.  In fact, hybrid cars & SUVs can be found in prices ranging from $20,000 to $50,000 for standard models, but may cost more depending on chosen upgrades.  The new hybrid cars are available in the look of typical highway automobiles or those designed with a unique flair.  Either way, the manufacturers of hybrid cars believe that while appearance is important, the most important thing about these new technologically advanced autos is the fact that they are both environmentally and wallet friendly.

When you are looking for your next car whether you are buying a new or used vehicle the one thing that you should be considering is, buying one of the best gas mileage cars available. This doesn’t mean that we all have to drive around in Micro cars either as there are some good small to mid-size cars with good gas mileage.

Fuel efficiency varies greatly from one car to the next, and with the continuing rise of gas prices buying a more economical car makes even more sense than ever before, after all it’s your cash that you are putting into the gas tank.

Did you know that around 15% of people looking to buy a new car will reject a model due to poor gas mileage alone? And nearly 40% of people who eliminate a full size SUV due to poor fuel efficiency will ultimately buy a mid-size SUV instead, while nearly 20% will buy another model altogether.

With more and more people buying and driving cars than ever before the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has put together a useful guide to help prospective buyers to choose the best gas mileage cars available on the market, and these guides should be shown on the cars for sale on the garage forecourt. The EPA gas mileage guide will tell you the expected fuel consumption for both city as well as highway driving.

Listed below are 5 of the most popular of the best gas mileage cars available at the moment.

Number 5 of the top small to mid-size best gas mileage cars is the Toyota Scion XA.
This comes with a 1.5 liter, 4 cylinder engine, with a 4 speed automatic transmission. Driving in the city you can expect to get around 32 MPG and this goes up to nearly 40MPG for the highway.

Number 4 Is the Toyota Echo with its 1.5 liter 4 cylinder engine and 5 speed manual transmission the MPG for the city is 35 while on the highway this goes up to 43MPG.

Number 3 The Honda Civic even with its slightly larger 1.7 liter engine and 5 speed manual transmission will still give you 36MPG in the city and 44MPG when out on the highway. The Honda Civic is also available in a Hybrid version with even greater fuel economy.

Number 2 The Toyota Prius comes with a 1.5 liter 4 cylinder engine and a variable automatic transmission. This car will give you a whopping 60MPG around the city but oddly is not quite so good on the highway giving 51MPG.

The Number 1 best gas mileage car is as you would imagine a smaller car. With its 1 liter 3 cylinder engine and a 5 speed manual transmission the Honda Insight does however give you great fuel economy. You can expect to get60MPG in the city and a fantastic 66MPG for highway driving.

So if you are thinking of buying a new or newer car, and you are on the lookout for the best gas mileage cars around then you might want to consider one of the five above.
