VW New Compact Coupe Concept Unveiled for Detroit Debut HD Song: Mishon – Rock My Chain Instrumental Enjoy & Comment! VW will be debuting the New Concept Coupe (NCC) at the Detroit auto show today. The New Concept Coupe is a full hybrid car, which in European media has been referred to as a Golf Coupe prototype. The car is likely based on the same platform as the Golf/Jetta and, although still in the concept stage, it will most probably come to be called the Jetta Coupe if it ever goes to market in North America. The vaguely named New Compact Coupe comes with VW’s 1.4 liter TSI engine, a turbocharged 4-cylinder dialed up to 150 hp and 220 Nm of torque (177 lb-ft), coupled to a 7-speed DSG gearbox (a dual-clutch sequential transmission), as well as an electric motor with 20 kW/27 hp. Powered by a lithium-ion battery pack, the electric motor is able to propel the car on its own, which allows the vehicle to be classified as a full-hybrid. When the TSI engine is shut down, it is also disengaged to reduce any drag effect. Performance numbers on the coupe are impressive – with only 98 g/km in CO2 emissions, the NCC does the 0 to 100 km/h sprint in just 8.6 seconds and has a top speed of 227 km/h (141 mph), all the while delivering 4.2 liters/100 km (45 mpg) in fuel economy. The NCC comes in “Tungsten Silver Metallic” with bi-xenon headlights and LED daytime running lights, turn signals and tail lights. The NCC is 4.54 m (178.5 inches) long, 1.78 m (70.1 inches) wide and 1.41 m

The rear-wheel-drive Crown Hybrid Concept is equipped with the THS II hybrid powertrain, which has a two-stage motor-speed reduction device that helps with smooth acceleration, increasing fuel efficiency and lowering CO2 emissions. “The difference between the hybrid system in the Crown when compared to the Lexus is that the hybrid Lexus motor is geared for power, as it is a Sport model, this Crown hybrid, in the same vein as the Prius, was designed for greater mileage and to be more environmentally friendly.” It also features Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management traction control for vehicle stability and active steering to balance drive power, steering and braking. Other features include a TFT LCD “Finegraphic Meter” display, providing the driver with easy to see and understand information and 10 SRS airbags, heightening the vehicles safety performance levels.

The styling of the Chevrolet Volt MPV5 concept borrows design and aerodynamic cues from the Chevrolet Volt. The front fascia is among the most aerodynamic of any crossover thanks to its closed grille and aero-optimized lower air dam, both of which help improve fuel efficiency. A full-underbody belly pan, along with rocker claddings, creased tail lamps and specially designed blades on the rear quarter, also help the Chevrolet Volt MPV5 concept cut through the wind with ease. The intense focus on improved aerodynamics enables greater all-electric range. The exterior of the Chevrolet Volt MPV5 concept isn’t solely about efficiency. Its Sonic Blue Metallic paint provides a contemporary appeal, while the dual skylight panels and 19-inch Volt-inspired wheels build the Chevy Volt MPV5 concept’s sporty credentials. The Chevrolet Volt MPV5 concept’s dimensions provide added passenger comfort. While the 2760-mm wheelbase of the Volt MPV5 concept is a mere 15 mm longer than the wheelbase of the Chevrolet Volt, its body is 181 mm longer (4585 mm), 73 mm wider (1871 mm) and 182 mm taller (1612 mm) than the Volt. Inside, the Chevrolet Volt MPV5 concept adopts the Volt’s center stack and gauge cluster along with its striking two-tone leather seats. Thanks to the Chevrolet Volt MPV5 concept’s size, passenger comfort doesn’t take a backseat. Typical for Chevrolet crossovers, the Volt MPV5 concept’s seating position allows for maximum comfort and flexibility, including improved entry and
