I’m not saying it’s a bad idea, I’m just saying they need to get to lower the prices

You always believe what you see on tv, eh?
How does a self charge car work? You need an energy source don’t you?

Better Place’s model is to treat electric cars like mobile phones. You sign up for a contract, you get the car for free (like you do with a cell phone) and pay for the miles (like you do for air time).
The infrastructure of charging stations and battery swap stations are powered by renewable energy.
Which in the end makes electric cars affordable.

The cost of electric cars are high due to several factors. If the car manufacturers made them affordable and everybody adopted them where would that leave the stock of gas guzzlers ?
Another is the battery technology, Lithium Ion which is the flavour of the year are not cheap.

    Electric cars:
    Unfortunately your assumptions are wrong.
I would view the Shai Agassi videos for Better Place.
If we all plugged in our electric cars overnight you would be using off peak electricity which is when demand is low.
Due to the length of time that the vehicles are charging the power consumed is low.
