My 1996 1.3 liter geo metro gets about 35mpg real-world. I'm not sure what it was rated for. I paid $2K for it, it has four doors and room in the trunk. I've seen the other cars mentioned and to be honest, I'm completely dumbfounded as to why my old 1.3 liter car still gets way better milage.

In a nutshell, shop around for geos in good condition becasue everything new on the market now is still not as good in gas or functionality.
