Do American car companies need to make green cars or cars that sell?

I mean Toyota, and other foreign car makers make green cars. Do they sell well in America?
And what buiness is it of Washington?

    asking washington to run a business is a horrible idea, see national deficit, and we want them to give ideas? HA
    They are the reason we are in this mess, and unions too.

    Cars that are safe and get good mileage. They will sell.

    they have to do both, there a mileage chart that they have to follow with goals in mpg that must be reached or they can’t sell there cars

    I don’t know what American car companies have been able to see cars effectively? I really don’t know but its obvious because we are looking to bail them out.
