    I invented a breakthrough energy source which violates the law of energy conservation. I have a PROOF that there are electrodynamic phenomena which violate the law of energy conservation. I am looking for $30 000 for a prototype and for $3M for patents. Making a 6 kW generator will cost $1200 in mass production.

    @jvincent3131 over 10,000 people have built their own for like $7000-20,000. (including me :-) hooray for open source cars and almost no more maintenance, no oil or gas… the power is in the people’s hands.

    @CommanderB9488
    Volvo was working on similar drive system. Electronics were built into each motor. If a motor or its computer failed, it was replaced as if changing for the spare tire. That is the spare tire had the replacement motor and rim as well.

    @danwat1234

    It does, but still has a drivetrain.

    This one has a brushless motor in each wheel… looks like a brake drum.

    It is the ideal all wheel traction control system. Long term reliability of driver electronics? I don’t know.

    Ideally you would have electronics in the motor itself, so a bad drive motor would be replaced as a component with the spare tire.

    @westreet88 — Less risk of electrocution than odds BOTH Britney & Madonna want you to show them a good time. As opposed to driving around with an air-fuel bomb in your trunk. But I agree, there’s LOTS of vehicles I’d rather have. I’d probably be happiest with a half-dozen
    2nd hand customized toys, from a classic pre-war big-block hotrod PU to a 20s roadster to a barn-find ’39 caddy to a Series 2 Landrover w/ 4-banger Cummins to a 1500 cc Yamaha bobber to a 100 inch HD roadking sidecar.

    Hmm. Tesla Roadster S has better 0-60

    so its a toy for those with cash to burn – ok, i can appreciate it for what it really is

  15. westreet88 on September 7th, 2010 10:18 am

    so… 250k for no gas, short range, just two people, no sun roof, and the risk of electricution? Ill take 4 corvetts, differant colors and a hell of alot of gas!

    I looked into those motors, but they wont sell them to the general public. Only to the suits.

  17. MRJOSEPHKING1971 on September 7th, 2010 11:26 am

    Now that’s the new sports car for Hollywood for 2012/2013 !!

  20. DThaeman on September 7th, 2010 1:19 pm

    whats the top speed? how long can it travel flat out?

  21. CommanderB9488 on September 7th, 2010 2:12 pm

    What if one of the motor’s malfunctions? Will the wheel then just free spin? Surely that will affect driving and handling no?

  22. SoRealSoReal23 on September 7th, 2010 2:52 pm

    damn this car cost way more than the telsa…the only thing better on this car is the short charge time

  23. tsport100 on September 7th, 2010 3:10 pm

    You’d expect with over 600 hp compared to the Tesla’s 250 hp it would be quite a bit faster!

    I drive an electric moped on the street, and an electric bicycle on trails. The moped was $1,440, a full thousand less than a Honda Ruckus. The bike was $300, about as much as a decent mountain bike goes for anyway.

    I don’t think I’m saving the earth. I just like the whirr and hum of electric motors. I like the smooth acceleration and low maintinence. They’re quiet, which is better for enjoying yourself in the countryside, and they have peppy acceleration.

    The Tesla Roadster Sport can go 0-60 in 3.7 seconds. They said about 4 seconds here, how close to “about 4 seconds” is it? Still, cool looking car.
