people like to attack china n chinese products r plain jealous. look, china is a huge country, n it’s has huge amount of different products export to other countries in the world. the tainted milk, the lead painted toys r only amount many other great products, but how come we only hear the negative part of the story, but never the good parts? well, I guess some of u would say “because there is no good part” hehe, if that is yr logic, do I need to say more?

@glim671 well Mercedes is planning on using BYD’s technology and Warren Buffet is betting a ton of money on BYD management. you’ve overgeneralized based on a few unrelated items (not to belittle them) out of myriads China produces worldwide. btw, because companies like Mattel design products calling for the most least expensive? industrial paint, lead paint would be at the top of the list followed by cadmium. designers are most often the culprit, not the manufacturer.

I wouldn’t trust it – Chinese are known for fudging everything. The model provided may pass American crash tests, but then may be the only one built to pass those tests. Then the Chinese will send to the U.S. their usual “short-cutted” poorly built models to flood the market. Remember melanine tainted milk, lead-paint toys, cadmium laced jewelry, etc.

where can I buy the girl?

  5. jimmyjamesWang on August 27th, 2010 4:24 pm

look, you fool, they’ve already got the permit to sell it in the US, and you need to pass the crash test before that can happen. So, believe me, these cars are okey. Another inside news is that it uses many structural technology from the Honda Odyssey, which is a proven product.

  6. jimmyjamesWang on August 27th, 2010 5:21 pm

no, not at all. It is priced at around $40,000 US, which is good because it is not cheap.

  7. jimmyjamesWang on August 27th, 2010 5:50 pm

the crash test will be done soon, and it will be a american crash test because they are planning on bringing it on the american market.

What a surprise, a reply from Taiwan. What brand of car do you drive, or do you even own a car? Ever been in a high-speed crash in a Chinese car? Don’t call someone ignorant when they have experience and you have no proof of your statement.

It is expected to be available in 2011, they’re should be more details about dealerships closer to the date. But it’s currently selling in China right now… i’m guessing you can import one, but the cost would probably be significantly higher.

I live in New Jersey so where and when can I buy one?

  14. stevenWang122 on August 27th, 2010 9:00 pm

This car can charge to 50% in 10minutes, 100% in about 20minutes. IT should have the standard warranty on most new cars today. Price should only be in the mid $20 000 range. (very nicely equiped too)

  15. stevenWang122 on August 27th, 2010 9:44 pm

The F6 DM, using the same technology with leather seats, heated seats, power seats etc… only costs about $20 000 USD.

How do you know is safe? have you seen the crash test stat? or have you crash test yourself?

  17. mrjatu on August 27th, 2010 11:01 pm

This E-car is power by LiFePo4(LIMPO4) or LFP batter technology. But there are some patent issues not yet settle between A123, Phostech, and ALEEES. BYD’s LFP battery is baced on ALEEES(Taiwan company).

  18. mrjatu on August 27th, 2010 11:53 pm

I am sure BYD will target their E-cars in the State. But you see, China is such a big car market, even with the boycot BYD will make tons of money just from domestic market.

    Good stuff.

  20. nnbb2008 on August 28th, 2010 12:31 am

BYD was a battery manufacturer originally. Battery technology is the key bottleneck of E-car development.

Due to this background, I think it is reasonable that their E-Car has no cool car body.

  21. chairde on August 28th, 2010 1:04 am

    I would buy one.

  22. nnbb2008 on August 28th, 2010 1:37 am

“What is the slow & fast recharge times”?
I guess such defintions are applied when we recharge batteries for cell phones or PDAa. Fast recharge is fast of course, but it may hurt the battery and reduce its life.

“What is the likely warranty of the car & will batteries be covered by it?”
Well, I think it really depends on how it goes in Australia auto market.

  23. nnbb2008 on August 28th, 2010 1:53 am

I heard about the battery per E-car will cost around USD 3000-4000. Other costs will depend on motor, car body, as well as some other accessories, which will vary greatly according to your choice.

As I guess, USD 10k should be enough for some economy style car.

  24. waimen90 on August 28th, 2010 2:51 am

Guys, Warren Buffett has invested 200m USD into this model. There are already US marketing experts working on the market introduction for 2011. No price tag yet. This will be the first e-car in the world. There are negotiations about the sale of the battery licence for other car makers too. Congrats to the Chinese engineers.

    A European friend

  25. RyanBlockb5 on August 28th, 2010 3:23 am

it looks very nice but will it stand up to US crash standards.
