**Film Premiere on Thursday November 12, 2009 at SJSU’s College of Engineering** More info about the premiere here: www.engr.sjsu.edu As the worlds top two carbon emitters, China and the US face significant challenges reducing their carbon emissions while keeping up with each nations growing demand for more energy. Is there the potential for cooperation between both Pacific Rim nations around this important issue, or is each nation seeking its own distinct solutions? Green Rim documents how people from universities, NGOs and industries in both countries can learn from each other as they work to reduce CO2 emissions, increase energy efficiency, create new methods to produce renewable energy and conserve natural resources. Filmed on location in China and Silicon Valley (California), Green Rim shows why clean tech energy solutions to climate change problems can only be effective if they also address the underlying social values which hinder or enable those solutions to be integrated into the everyday lives of members of each society. (57 Minutes) Produced by Bob Gliner in association with Belle Wei, the Charles W. Davidson College of Engineering at San Jose State University, Sandy Chau, and the US China Green Energy Council. Go Green Press Conference with Mike Love of the Beach Boys

Fairfield Iowa is the home to one of the most progressive efforts to create a sustainable community in the United States. In a press conference held last September, Mayor Ed Malloy emphasized the timeliness of this event. “This theme of energy independence is on the lips of everyone. We understand why we have to get there. It’s important for reasons of National security. It’s important for creating a sustainable future for our children, and our grand children, and beyond.” “Something good is definitely happening in terms energy independence and sustainability in Iowa, and in Fairfield specifically” says Mike Love of the Beach Boys. “The Heartland of America is perfectly positioned to lead the world in this energy independence movement. So, go green Fairfield!” Live interviews with concert producer David Lynch Foundation, Fairfield’s Mayor Ed Malloy, and a host of leaders in sustainability from the SE Iowa region will delve into details of the massive effort to provide solutions and education in twenty-three (23) SE Iowa counties. The outreach is part of a pubic-private-partnership between Iowa State University Extension, the City of Fairfield Iowa’s Commission on Sustainability, and a multitude of private citizens all working to create a sustainable future for Iowa and the world.
