Gas Saving 101 – How to Get the Best Gas Mileage
When it comes to conserving gas, or getting the best gas mileage, nothing beats trading in your current car for a more fuel-efficient model. Unfortunately, not everybody has enough money to afford such a costly undertaking. In fact, it’s a little bit self-defeating – if I had enough money to buy a new car when I feel like it, the price of gas should be of no concern. So with that in mind, here’s a look at some of the best ways to increase fuel mileage and save money.
Some people have resorted to various gas saving devices, but majority of these things don’t work according to the Environmental Protection Agency. The few ones that do work provide barely noticeable that they won’t justify their cost. The EPA actually has a point when they stated that it is smart to be skeptical about gas saving devices. After all, if those things actually work, wouldn’t it have been easier if cars were made that incorporated these things?
Right now, the most cost-effective way you could save on gas is by being more responsible and following a few simple rules when it comes to your car. In the first place, try to maintain your car in tip-top shape. If you’re worried about the cost of a regular tune up, think of the costs in repairs if your car breaks down at the most inopportune times. That alone should convince you to do regular tune ups, even if you don’t need to save on gas. If you have the knack for it, study how to tune up your car. You can learn in a few months in one of the crash course schools.
Simple things will also help, like refueling in the morning or late at night, when the fuel is cool. Gas contracts and expands based on temperature, and a cool gas will have less density than heated ones. That means you will get more gas for your money. Just remember not to fill your gas tank to the brim or you’re going to have some problems when that gas expands.
The way you drive will also have profound effects on your gas mileage. If you drive off immediately in a low and consistent speed after starting, the engine will ramp up faster and increase lubrication. This means your engine will need less gas during the startup process.
Do not let the motor idle for too long either. If you’re in one of those lengthy traffic jams, it helps if you turn off the engine and the air condition for a while. It will take less fuel to restart an engine that in takes to keep it idling. Usually, you don’t need to press the accelerator down in order to restart a warm engine…and since we’re on the subject, don’t depend on the air condition too much. If the climate is cool and you’re cruising in a less polluted place, turn the AC off and roll the windows down a little so that the cool breeze will cool you instead.
If you follow all of these tips, you will find that you don’t really need to spend a lot of money just to conserve on gas. The perfect setting is that you will save not only on gas, but also on cash.

EcoRock Drywall is Setting the Foundation for Residential & Commercial Green Building Applications
Serious Materials are the makers of the new Eco-friendly EcoRock drywall that is revolutionizing green building practices with materials that are 90% more efficient than what is traditionally used and five times more environmentally friendly. People are already eagerly waiting for the day when they will be able to find this new “Green” product at their local building supply store. There has been a lot of excitement surrounding this new product for all its many Eco-friendly initiatives and beneficial qualities; which combined make it a healthier and environmentally safer alternative for the interior finishing of buildings.
Although the specific date has not been released for nationwide marketing; Serious Materials is looking at expanding the availability of their new “Green building” and Eco-friendly drywall product later this year. EcoRock is currently available in some western and northwestern states and runs in the same price category as high-end drywall; retailing at $14 – $20 per 4×8 foot sheet.
Wall board, or drywall, is a very basic building material used in residential and commercial sectors for the interior finishing of buildings and the renovating of projects. Almost a century ago gypsum drywall; which is a form of fabricated plaster, took the place of the older plaster and lath materials. It was a huge advancement to the building industry by making drywall projects less expensive, quicker and easier to complete. Along with this great convenience came increased environmental issues and health downsides. Traditional drywall contains calcium and sulfur and uses mined gypsum rock; which is roasted in 500 degree kilns. The vapors, mercury and CO2 emissions, released during the gypsum production process have always been a major contributor to green house gases; about 20 billion pounds per year coming from Drywall factories.
There are 15 million tons of traditional drywall produced every year in the United States alone and the product contains up to 25 percent of gypsum powder; making it a recyclable product; however not a waste product friendly to sitting in landfills. It is reported that more than 40 tons of drywall waste is being dumped into landfills, on a daily basis, across the globe.
The groundbreaking news is that Serious Material’s new Eco-friendly EcoRock Drywall has significantly changed and improved the drywall product from its basic material elements to its production processing methods. EcoRock is a fully recyclable and highly attractive alternative; well fitted for the new 21st century sustainable green building applications being implemented worldwide.
The EcoRock drywall is made from 80% post industrial recycling, utilizing material from steel and cement plant waste. It can also be used as a pH additive in soils; so it can be safely discarded in landfills. This new EcoRock “Green Building” product is naturally cured and dried; which allows for the use of 80% less energy than the traditional methods use in the manufacturing stages. It contains no gypsum; eliminating the need for high intense energy consumption during production. This new and cutting edge design also improves air quality by eliminating airborne mercury and it creates 60% less dust. EcoRock drywall is termite resistant and is 50% more resistant to mildew and mold; while using no harsh anti-fungal chemicals.
EcoRock drywall is only one of the newest additions to Serious Materials other cutting edge “Green building” products. Two of which include Eco-friendly products like sustainable sound-proof doors and therma-proof insulated windows. They have four manufacturing plants in the U.S.; which is expected to create thousands of new “Green Building” jobs to meet their increased production expectations.
CEO and founder of Serious Materials Kevin Surace, was named 2009 Entrepreneur of the year by Inc. Magazine. The company was awarded the Cradle to Cradle gold award and the Popular Science “Best of
What’s New” award. In addition; the company won the 2009 Wall Street Journal technology innovation award and has also earned the UL Environment Claims Validation. EcoRock drywall has been credited to be the revolutionary product that does all that it claims to; in being superior for its groundbreaking environmental and health benefits. Keeping this new Eco-friendly product affordable and cost efficient will hopefully make this product the new commonly used alternative to traditional drywall.

The Five Most Practical Eco Gifts
There are all types of eco-friendly gifts. There are eco friendly products for the kitchen, bedroom and bathroom; the garden, the work place and the office – every room in the house.
However, not all eco products are the same many are practical methods of saving us money and reducing our impact on the environment. Others however offer other reasons for buying them. A pure wool duvet for instance provides unequalled warmth and pleasure during a night’s sleep whilst other eco-gifts are just novelties:
Some Eco Toy’s are just Novelties
But there are plenty of eco friendly products out there that are not only practical, good for the environment and can save us money – they can quite often be a better than the alternatives! Here are my five – Most Practical Eco Friendly Products:
5. Clothes Airer
They may be quaint and hark back to the good old days of mangles and scrubbing but a clothes airer is about as practical as you can get if you need to dry your clothes. Not only can they be hung almost anywhere, they prevent the need for placing clothes all over the radiators and the cost savings compared with a tumble dryer are phenomenal.
4. Radiator Panels
A simple but ingenius method of boosting the power output of the radiators. Available as foil or panels they reflect the heat that would normally soak into the back wall – back into the room. Can reduce bills by 15%.
3. Solar chargers
Powering all those gizmos, gadgets and even laptops by the power of the sun not only means it is free it also means your laptop, mp3 player of mobile can be charged anywhere.
2. Energy Monitor
One of the easiest methods of saving money is to identify what you are wasting. Electricity monitors can help you identify areas of waste and high usage meaning energy monitors pay for themselves when your quarterly bills arrive.
Energy Monitors are Extremely Practical
Whilst not the most exciting energy saving or eco friendly product the humble energy saving light bulb is helping to drastically reduce the nation’s power consumption. En mass as more and more people switch to them the nation’s carbon footprint is reducing.

TETRA FALSE TREES
Environmentally friendly New Labour have disguised unpermitted TETRA masts in clearly FALSE trees on motor and highways. Some observations taken here from M25/M23 South England 15/11/08. Summary of what is different about TETRA;TETRAWATCH.com 1. TETRA has a rhythm of its own, its base station beat is 70.56Hz and its repetition frequency is 17.65Hz. Both are harmful frequencies, and are discernable not by fancy electronics, but by simple rectification of the microwave signal. 2. TETRA handsets have a sharp pulse at 17.65Hz, which is a key bio-frequency. 3. TETRA is persistent. Unlike mobile phone masts, TETRA masts are on full power 24/7. Phone masts are quieter at night, TETRA masts carry on the noisy party. 4. TETRA operates at 380MHz, which is more penetrative to buildings and tissues, than 900MHz GSM or up to 2.4GHz 3G (UMTS). 5. TETRA is an elliptically polarised signal, which is indicated in studies to be have more pronounced biological effects.
